About Dr. Burnquist

Dr. Burnquist was born in Washington, DC. She attended DC public schools until moving to Bowie, MD. She graduated from Bowie High School and soon thereafter enlisted in the Air Force. She served on active duty as an electronics technician for four years. She then left active duty to attend the University of Maryland in College Park, graduating with a degree in Biology. Bonnie then went to George Washington University Medical School.

After graduating from medical school in 1986, Dr. Burnquist became Captain Burnquist and entered active duty as an Air Force physician. She did her Family Medicine residency at Andrews Air Force Base and served over seven years on active duty. After the first Gulf War, Dr. Burnquist left active duty and joined a private practice group in Harrisburg, PA. She was there for several years, but then for family reasons, came back to Washington, DC and joined Georgetown University Medical Group. Soon she was promoted to Medical Director of the outpatient satellite in Arlington and served in this capacity until the satellite was closed by Georgetown.

Dr. Burnquist then relocated to Bethany Beach and opened her own office in Ocean View. She now practices traditional Family Medicine and also aesthetics. She is also proud of the fact that she retired after a total of 27 years in the Air Force. She was also listed as one of Washingtonian Magazine’s physicians of the year in 2002.
